Invitation to Inking Independence, an Exhibit in Celebration of the 132nd Anniversary of the Publication of El Filibusterismo
The Philippine Embassy in Brussels and the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Flanders invite everyone to Inking Independence, an exhibit in celebration of the 132nd anniversary of the publication of Jose Rizal's El Filibusterismo.
The exhibit features artists from the BeLikha Art Collective: Aurea Calanog, Amihan de Sosa, Mylene Factora, Rasco Jugarap, Cybele Ku, Anna Beth Santilla, and May Tabalon-Cornelissen, with Sam Domingo as curator.
The artworks will be up at Saint Nicholas Church (Sint-Niklaaskerk) in Ghent from 30 September to 14 October 2023. Everyone is invited to the opening on 30 September at 13:00H.
Six Filipinos Graduate from International Master Programs of the University of Ghent Faculty of Bioscience Engineering
Six Filipino students graduated from Ghent University's Faculty of Bioscience Engineering on 23 September 2023.
The graduates are Stephanie Cantorne (International Master of Science in Rural Development), Joyce Hilario (International Master of Science in Health Management and Aquaculture), Kristine Jane Montalla (International Master of Science in Rural Development), Jessa May Recote (Master of Science in Food Technology), Carl John Saromines (International Master of Science in Health Management and Aquaculture), and Shangrilla Seposo (Master of Science in Aquaculture).
Ms. Hilario and Ms. Seposo also won special scientific awards in Innovation in Aquaculture and Sustainable Societal Impact in Aquaculture, respectively.
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ma. Filonila Alcaraz-Arguelles and Honorary Consul for Flanders Ronny de Blaere attended the ceremonies.

EMBASSY MEETS WITH FILIPINO COMMUNITY LEADERS IN LUXEMBOURG

Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda and officials from the Philippine Embassy in Brussels, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Brussels, and the Migrant Workers’ Office in Berlin, which has jurisdiction over Luxembourg, met with Filipino community leaders in Luxembourg on 15 September 2023.
Ambassador Ledda thanked the leaders for the projects they initiated for the benefit of Filipinos in Luxembourg and the Philippines. He also briefed the community on the Embassy’s engagements with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs as well as Luxembourgish businesses and non-governmental organizations. In an open forum, the Embassy clarified the community leaders’ questions related to consular matters, importation of Philippine goods, and assistance for Overseas Filipino Workers.
Ambassador Ledda assured the community leaders that the Embassy remains committed to supporting and being of service to the Filipino community in Luxembourg.

Ledda, together with other officials from the Philippine Embassy in Brussels, met with CHAMP Cargosystems CEO Chris McDermott and CFO Edward Kemp; Cargolux Airlines EVP/CFO Maxim Straus and Senior Manager for Government and Industry Relations Patrick Jeanne; and Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg CEO/Director-General Carlo Thelen in Luxembourg on 15 September 2023.
First Secretary and Consul Charles Andrei P. Macaspac, CHAMP Cargosystems Chief People Officer Agathe Domon, Commercial Counsellor Magnolia Misolas-Ashley, CHAMP Cargosystems Chief Executive Officer Chris McDermott, Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda, and CHAMP Cargosystems Chief Financial Officer Edward Kemp met at the company’s headquarters in Luxembourg on 15 September 2023 to discuss CHAMP’s further operational expansion in the Philippines.
Luxembourgish company CHAMP Cargosystems has its largest overseas office in the Philippines, offering the most comprehensive range of integrated IT solutions in the air cargo industry.
Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg (CCL) CEO/Director-General Carlo Thelen, Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda, and Cargolux Airlines Senior Manager for Government and Industry Relations Patrick Jeanne met at the headquarters of CCL on 15 September 2023.
Cargolux Airlines is Europe’s biggest all-cargo airline with a fleet of Boeing 747 freighters. The company has more than 85 offices in 50 countries. It won as “Best All Cargo Airlines” for four consecutive years as chosen by readers of trade magazine Air Cargo News.
The Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg marked its 180th anniversary in 2021. It is the official spokesperson for 90,000 companies representing 75% of salaried employment and 80% of the Grand Duchy’s GDP. The Chamber also organizes economic trade missions to selected countries.
