BRUSSELS, 25 February 2025 – Philippine Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union Jaime Victor B. Ledda welcomed Cambodian Ambassador Kimsour Sovannary for a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy in Brussels on 25 February, reaffirming the strong ties between the two ASEAN member states.

Discussions touched on recent high-level engagements, including Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet’s official visit to Manila, where he met with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to explore avenues for deeper cooperation in trade, investment, and regional security. Both envoys cited the momentum in bilateral relations and expressed optimism about sustaining dialogue across key sectors.

Ambassador Ledda also acknowledged the recent transition in Cambodia’s diplomatic representation in Manila, following the 13 February farewell call of the former Cambodian Ambassador to the Philippines on President Marcos. The outgoing envoy concluded a three-year tenure that saw strengthened ties between the two countries, with a new Cambodian Ambassador expected to take up post in Manila.

As the incumbent chair of the ASEAN Brussels Committee, the Philippines reaffirmed its commitment to advancing ASEAN-EU cooperation and regional integration efforts. Both ambassadors underscored the importance of multilateralism in addressing shared challenges.
