Philippine Embassy Participates in Belgian Trade Mission Info Session
On 7 March, around 30 Belgian companies attended an information session to know more about the opportunities in the Philippines. The webinar featured panelists from the Philippine Embassy in Brussels, the Belgian Embassy in Manila, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the IP SME Helpdesk. Ms. Loubna Essabouri of Ecosteryl delivered a testimonial on its business experience in the Philippines.
The online information session was organized by the Wallonia Export and Investment Agency (AWEX), with the participation of Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT) and hub.Brussels, for Belgian companies who expressed interest to participate in the Belgian trade mission to the Philippines scheduled in June.

Filipinos Join Brussels Library in Breaking World Record for Multilingual Reading
Maria Corazon Cabrera and her daughter, Janine Cabrera Mendoza, participated in the multilingual reading aloud relay at the Bib Sophia library in Schaerbeek, Brussels on Sunday, 26 February 2023 that broke the Guinness World Record for Multilingual Reading.
Children and parents from schools in the community set a new record for “most languages used in a reading relay” of 65 languages, eclipsing the previous record of 55 languages held by the Museum of Islamic Culture in Qatar. One sentence from ‘Mister René’, a book about the Belgian painter Rene Magritte written by Leo Timmers, was read aloud in Akkadian, Urdu and Swahili to Lingala, Welsh, Hebrew, Filipino, and 58 other languages with a maximum of ten seconds of waiting time between the languages.
Another Filipina, Ms. Maria Alicia Reyes Amarga, attested to the correctness of the Filipino translation read by Ms. Cabrera and her daughter, Janine.

Philippines-Belgium Joint Plan of Action Signed
Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo and Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib sign the Philippines-Belgium Joint Plan of Action (JPOA) on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, 18 February 2023.
The JPOA paves the way for stronger bilateral cooperation and reaffirms both countries' mutual commitment to cooperate on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
PH Embassy in Brussels Witnesses Signing of Contribution Agreement for the National Copernicus Capacity Support Action Program for the Philippines
Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pablito A. Mendoza witnesses the signing of the Contribution Agreement between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission Directorate General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) for the National Copernicus Capacity Support Action Programme for the Philippines (CopPhil), held at the sidelines of the 15th European Space Conference from 24 to 25 January 2023 in Brussels.
With the signing of the agreement, the ESA will implement the Copernicus programme in the Philippines, making it the first country in Southeast Asia and the second in the world with such an agreement.
The CopPhil will be supported by €10M from EU bilateral development cooperation and will allow for better earth observation activities in areas such as disaster risk management, climate adaptation, and atmosphere monitoring.
